07.01.2025 17:05 β π 21 π 16 π¬ 1 π 2We've completed a 3-year field study on scientific poster design. But poster science doesn't really fit into an established journal.
This is why I started my own journal with @Curvenote.com. Niche research, published for impact, with public peer review.
The image shows a scientific poster titled βModeling the Stability and State of Stress of Dynamic Magma Mush Reservoirs.β The poster is divided into several sections: 1. Title and Authors: It includes the title, authors (Lorenzo Mantiloni, James Hickey, Rami Alshembari), affiliations, and session details (V43D-3230, AGU24). 2. Dynamic Magma-Mush Reservoirs (DMMs): Explains the system studied, challenges in modeling magma mushes, and their significance in magmatic processes. 3. Methods: Outlines the modeling approach, focusing on magma failure criteria and numerical simulations under specific conditions. 4. Numerical Tests: Results: Displays graphs and visualizations showing principal effective stress and volumetric strain in simulated scenarios. 5. Take-Home Points: Summarizes key findings, implications for volcanic systems, and future research directions. 6. Side Quest: Porous Media and Gravity: Discusses the role of gravity and porous media on stress and pore pressure, with an example application to ground deformation at Campi Flegrei caldera, Italy. Includes detailed graphs and illustrations. 7. References and Contact: Provides references and the contact email for Lorenzo Mantiloni. The layout includes charts, graphs, and diagrams to support the findings, and it visually explains the methods and results comprehensively. Comment if you remember Zima.
I love the βside questβ ancillary poster by Lorenzo Mantiloni et al on magma reservoirs. We all have fun offshoot projects like this. Maybe we should have a βScience Side Questsβ session for pet projects! #AGU24
