Working at Gencove I experienced interacting with many file formats both text based and binary based. Usually there’s a significant performance gain by going with binary format.
Text formats in my experience are more widespread and you can always resort to parsing with Unix tools.

This really resonated with me. Python is the lingua franca of programming languages, Rust is a good option to write fast code and the Pyo3 project makes it easy to interface with Python.
