Saw The Running Man last night and I loved it. I have some criticism regarding the writing being heavy-handed at times but its a much better adaptation of the King novel. It definitely captures the tone and the desperation of the character. Glen Powell and Coleman Domingo are absolutely brilliant!!

People think it’s funny but one of the best tests of a person and systems is how it treats three types of people :

- servants
- poets
- children

How someone feels about those people and their accountability to and FROM them is a huge statement about their beliefs

The graduate student, Oren Renard, a PhD candidate in computer science whose identity was confirmed by other students in the class, previously served in Israel’s elite military surveillance agency, Unit 8200, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Cornell is cancelling a distinguished professor's classes on Gaza and suspending him because of the complaints of a student who previously served in Israel's military surveillance agency and was literally recording the comments of other students in class and deliberately derailing discussion.

Sometimes you don't have to give an event more attention than it warrants for a day or two, and you need to step back and realize that giving it oxygen serves the vile and insidious of interests that seek to distract and deflect from the material harms they commit.

This! There's a sense of dread with all the other things these characters are getting into.

To me, the show never feels like it's meandering. We're steeped to the bad stuff, and the worse stuff is just waiting in the wings for its moment.

And it's not just that it's the overreaching dread of pretty much everything that they're doing. The synths, the biohacking, the attempts to cheat death.

I'm enjoying Alien: Earth because I find it extra horrifying watching bored rich monsters veer humanity headfirst into a catastrophic collision with apex predator xenomorphs.
