Resisting Canada’s β€˜elbows up’ colonialism Canada’s new β€œelbows up” nationalism frames itself as resistance to Trump and US expansionismβ€”but it risks recycling colonial myths. Real strength means truth, reconciliation, and resisting colonialism, not shallow nostalgia.

PLANNING FOR REAL: BRINGING YOUR WHOLE SELF TO THE FIELD
An APSA Short Course
Discussions on Navigating:
β€’	The body
β€’	Academic Responsibilities
β€’	Ethics
β€’	Practical Concerns
β€’	Gatekeepers
β€’	Community
β€’	Family
β€’	And much more
Most fieldwork advice is very general in nature, proffered for supposedly neutral and unmarked researchers. This approach underestimates the variability of researchers’ bodies and positionalities across the span and dimensions of fieldwork including preparing, active field time, and reception. These varied bodies and positionalities are not ancillary to the planning and doing of fieldwork but influence every aspect of it.
We take up these concerns in this interactive workshop session, sharing our experiences, insights and expertise, and creating space for participants to integrate their whole selves into planning and adapting field work.

Here’s why Canada’s parents and grandparents reunification program is problematic International conventions dictate that families have a right to be together. But Canada’s current parent and grandparent reunification program makes that difficult.

It's finally out! Am proud of this article that Megan Gaucher, Harshita Yalamarty, Asma Atique and I wrote on grandparent visa sponsorship in Canada! We make the case for the need to strengthen family reunification pathways and to include grandparents. theconversation.com/heres-why-ca... #canimm
