But it's gaining recognition, when I was in hospital twice this week they asked me if I worked there because I was wearing it.

I'm literally living out one of my top biggest nightmares.

The possibility of any surgery is terrifying to me.

But a possible craniectomy?

A surgery removing a part of the skull????

How does an autistic person even begin to deal with this?

The strange thing about growing up in Ireland in the ‘70s, was you had a ring side seat to Brit & US culture, whilst at the same time having experienced how those cultures were based on exacting a toll from the colonised, like us. It was a discombobulating experience. Belonging & not belonging.

I wish it wasn't easier to explain to people "I'm depressed" than "I'm in autistic burnout."

People shouldn't be dismissed by saying the latter just because others cannot seem to comprehend how debilitating being in an autistic burnout actually is.

I get this sometimes and am reminded to slow down... in fairness it's in the kitchen and he delivers and means it in the nicest way. Like a reminder to take it easy and not get carried away just in case... they know im liable to damage myself regularly 😅

There are more *diagnosed* autistic people because they changed the diagnostic criteria and started diagnosing people other than white boys with autism. Also: 40 years of "awareness" campaigns.
