Huge thanks to Bromley High school and to everyone who took part!
23.01.2026 14:49 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Students explored the ancient artistic techniques, created their own designs, and learned about the art and history behind Roman decorative traditionsβfrom Pompeii to Rutland, with stories inspired by the Trojan War. The results were fantastic, as you can see!
23.01.2026 14:49 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Three students sit at a school table spread with newspaper. The girls look down, absorbed in the task of creating mosaics from tiles scattered on the paper.
A wooden table-top with small mosaicked shapes resting on it. They are all different - a star, a flower, a heart, a cat, hexagons and circles. The tiles form vibrant patterns in mainly blues, yellows, white, red and green.
Three students stand in a classroom holding their finished mosaic pieces up to show the camera and smiling.
Brilliant work by students of Bromley High school, who participated in a two-day mosaic workshop led by KCL's Elena Svettini Remme.

Prof. van Steen's work has benefited the 4,000 Greek-born adoptees (and their descendants) who were sent to the USA in the 1950s-60s. Her work has achieved widespread awareness and the restoration of birth citizenship for the first 12 adoptees -something really worth celebrating.
22.01.2026 19:31 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Huge congratulations to Prof. Gonda van Steen whose research into the identity and agency of Greek-born adoptees has been recognised by the Kingβs Engaged Research Awards.

A buff-coloured panther is sculpted side-ways on, her front paws resting on a head of a bearded man. She looks at the camera and shows her teeth.
Roman vehicle fitting shaped like a panther with her paws on a severed head has been declared treasure under the new significance-based criteria of the Treasure Act 1996, after research by KCL's Dr John Pearce.

Really looking forward to this! Iβll be giving the pre-performance talk on Tues. 3rd, book your tickets asap to hear me think out loud about why Clouds makes me so uncomfortable despite having some really very excellent and funny jokes (incl. what is maybe the funniest in all of Aristophanes imho)

Fringed red curtains pull back to reveal blue clouds swirling and retreating from 'The Clouds' in chunky yellow capital text.
