Back in the day I recall being impressed by how many clerical students based in Rome at the time were deployed as translators. Lectures in the morning, Vii translation in the evening.

First novel I’ve read through to the end in years.

Whistler’s later work, his incredible etched glass for the church in Moreton #Dorset, would be much better, but this little panel @campionhall.bsky.social was probably his first commissioned piece around 1936.

And a peculiarly distinctive element of Irish delights without an easily available equivalent in England.
