Maybe they charged all they could but that doesn't mean the rest of the ppl are blameless. Maybe just there wasn't enough evidence to charge & publicly naming will let others know of their actions. MeToo didn't lead to a lot of criminal charges but it sure let everyone know who the problems are.

Yeah that was prob the most expensive, and all my tickets are like back row furthest back furthest up. But worth it for them. I usually have one show like that each trip where the prices are insane no matter what. It wasn't even that bad at $129. The rest of them are under $110.

The problem is not at the individual/bottom-level, it's a systemic/global issue that can't be solved bottom-up, top-down is the only option given the massive consolidation and expansion of corporations into main street.

This is the same type of fallacy that exists with emissions reductions: switching to paper straws & reusable grocery bags is not going to solve the problem because the problem is global giant energy corporations. For housing the problem is both VC/corporate ownership & restrictive zoning...

I think it ultimately depends where you live. In major cities likely renters will live in older units because they are priced out of newer units. New units in Boston can easily go for upwards of $2500 for a 1BR whereas older units in houses and such can be significantly cheaper.

Agreed. But often they either fail to recognize it or actively refute it despite the evidence for it.

My experience has been the proponents of originalism often don’t grapple with it as it can often counter the desired outcome, whereas more progressive/liberal academics, despite having doctrinal failings of their own, have a better grasp on the history.

Like all the discussions on originalism come from an academic/scholarly perspective and don’t grapple with the notion that it’s more a
function for conservatives to get their preferred outcomes. Same with unitary executive & other doctrines. They are too detached from real world applications.

IMO as a lay person these are the kinds of legal/academic technicalities that are great in law review but near meaningless in function. I tend to see most legal scholars focusing on things like this & due process vs privileges-immunities which don’t really filter down into everyday govt life for ppl

In legal terms state are sovereign. Criminal, civil, taxes, torts, etc.

And I think the change of Reconstruction was due to the military occupation & Presidential/Congressional force, not change of the structure. Which is shown by the dismantling of Reconstruction after 1877 & resultant Jim Crow.

But we still consider states separate sovereigns. 14A applied Const to states but not explicitly only via "due process/privileges-immunities" subterfuge & we're still fighting over that, didn't change the method/rules of elections except racial suffrage which took military occupation to accomplish

How? Honestly I am curious as to your thought on this. I know it seems like I'm venting/spewing but I am trying an honest debate on it. I think one of the biggest struggles in our country is the idolization/deification of the Const/founders & we are too loathe to recognize them all as deeply flawed.
