This quote always reminds me of our old high school football coach who allegedly coined the phrase "excuses are the nails that built the house of failure"

I will say that Eric Adams is a masterclass study in disregarding the haters. Possibly the most disregard the haters have ever been shown

Even punting felt like it was treated with more analytical process than kicking. Hang time, placement, knowing the speed of your coverage, the mechanics of how you punt the ball.

You think half these coaches from like 2005 had absolutely by curiosity about *why* their kicker was making or missing?

The β€œNFL kickers are kicking it further because they can close the balls they kick” discourse is probably somewhat true but also funny because I didn’t hear kickers discussed as actual athletes until like 5-10 years ago. Before that? Might as well been fortune tellers to these head coaches.

Many people are asking how many trophies Spurs would have won if they’d have had Berhalter instead

Listen, it's just not going to get any better than "dick rising to the occasion" and "big from dick" in the same sequence

Anyway, I've got a California license now. Pretty damn good job, LA DMV.

There's easily 100 people all sitting in chairs in front of him and he just immediately knew and got me through there. Everyone was so nice, seemed incredibly competent at their jobs, and frankly they were even having fun at points.

The worker who had gone through my application with me saw me in limbo for the test and personally went over to check with the station, then got me into the testing stations because he realized my name had probably gotten skipped over.

1 hour, 15 minutes.

An hour fifteen as the entire branch had to deal with a medical emergency and my info getting temporarily lost in the shuffle??? I thought I would be there for two hours with a completely clean procedure. I even had to change photo station lines because one photo printer broke.

Question for the class: given all that info, how long do you think my stay at the DMV was?

And, just as a final little time bonus, I also had to explain why I had signed up with my first name as "Adam Whittaker" (my birth certificate, for whatever reason, has my first and middle names spaced very close together, and the online portal wouldn't accept my application otherwise)

21.11.2025 20:36 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

After that, I needed to take my knowledge test, but it was revealed that the extra time and general system-cracking nature of the medical emergency had ensured my name was not on the list for the knowledge test, and I had to wait longer for that, as well.

I was asked if the family member of the person having the emergency could jump me in the photo line so they could fast-track her appointment and get her through so she didn't have to set up another appointment and she could be with her family faster. I obliged.
