Super important, even if you only use a handful of layers having a base layer and then painting on top using clipping masks (or groups with alpha inheritance in Krita). Just not having to worry about staying in the lines is great.

One of my friends was kind enough to take me to the hardware store today so I could get some MDF and now I have the linoleum for linocuts mounted, including the one I already did. Now I can do some carving and printing.
