I feel like we should take a step back and remind ourselves how wild it is for a government to say "we're being prevented from doing what we want because it violates the human rights of this group, we're going to abolish those, vote for us" as if there's a bigger red flag to wave.

It's weird, because it's all very well to blame something else for why you have to/can't do something, but it's weird to go hunting down all excuses as to why you can't do things. Are they going to do these one by one until the only thing remaining is taxing the rich?

Farage and most everything politics recently is several layers of abstraction away from the fundamental issues. Governments worldwide need more money to sustain programs to support the public. That money has continuously shifted into the pockets of the 1%. Everything else is flag waving distraction

It's not even the British media, it's the steady erosion of our empathy, for others, our dignity in discussion and our fundamental humanity when handling others.

We need to get back to basics. Ultimately when it comes down to it we all agree on the problems, but not the solutions.

Honestly I feel cowards would be worse. Good player characters are pro-active not reactive. Definitely agree on the journey to becoming a hero being rewarding. I've definitely done a few characters that just see hero-ing as something other people do, but I feel that's different from redemption.

I don't think you need to hurl slurs, but there's something there for me that does wonder what kind of environment creates such a person and what kind of events and environment pick away at those kinds of ideas.

In the world we live in right now having that kind of understanding feels very relevant

That much positivity is hard when labour has taken some big steps towards dystopia.

As someone who typically ends up playing good idealist characters this has made me consider making a character that is on a journey of becoming a better person.

The comments immediately made me feel like a bad person for ever having considered it.

Jump gate is Roll20 having to actually compete for the first time, acknowledging Foundry's feature advantage. Foundry is a better toolkit for a GM, indies and those tech-confident, but Roll20 is still a good free option that supports more indies than the average newcomer VTTs.

I know a lot of people still swear by roll20 because it's free, but the pushing demiplane integration feels like they're trying to be the Beyond of everything.

As said FoundryVTT has a strong community, but the initial buy-in and tech knowledge can be an off-putting requirement.

That said I own more ttrpgs than I'll ever play and I support at least another ttrpg group tangential from my own, which also has multiple GMs, so I feel I'm not average in this space. It feels like most groups choose a game and stick to it.

It's really hard to build a community around ttrpgs generally. Generally there's more discussion about game content and content creation, rules and rulings, but it's hard to have that across ttrpgs themselves. I've found community generally more around VTTs and PBP forums.

A rough estimate from my experience is the UK would lose about 5-10% of their population, assuming families stay together.

That would be the most patently stupid thing I've ever heard from a political party. The company I work for would leave the UK along with half my family (half of those who would leave are British Nationals), which would remove any reason for me to stay.

The problem should really be tackled at the side of posters not flagging their posts. If you keep posting untagged content make it a ban, then your user-decided content filters *will* work.
