TGFβ links EBV to multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children - Nature Multisystem inflammatory syndrome following SARS-CoV-2 infection results from increased serum levels of TGFβ, which impairs the reactivation of virus-specific T cells.

Exciting to see this story out — showing that children with MIS-C have high levels of TGFβ, which weakens T cells and reactivates EBV. Blocking TGFβ reversed this effect, making this a potential treatment option!

We're exploring how EBV-driven T- and B-cell communication disruptions impact patients across all age groups. Our aim is to uncover disease mechanisms, identify biomarkers for early diagnosis, and develop targeted therapies. 💡
