RIP to anime director Tatsuya Nagamine. One of the finest adventure anime directors of the modern era. He helped breath new life into long-running series and made them feel altogether vital again. The current One Piece boom wouldn't have been possible in the same way without him.

*Grumble grumble*...look, I'm just fussy about romcoms. Basically just more of the first one, was fun to watch for a date night, even if it didn't impress me much.

Knights of Guinevere (Pilot)

Impressed me a lot! Aside from a couple of the voices, I would not have guessed this was an independent animation. Very intriguing sci-fi premise that doesn't rest too much on the laurels of its Disney pastiche.

No Shame (Lily Allen album)

Allen's *first* post-divorce album. A lot more personal-feeling and refined than her last record, though few tracks stood out to me.

Witch Watch (anime, season 1)

So glad they did this justice! A comfy, hilarious comedy with a charming cast, elegant pastel aesthetic and sense of humour that just tickles me to no end. Curious if S2's gonna cover the next big turning point with the disaster arc

The fans might concede that this stretch is a bit slow "but the show picks up *if you stick with it*"

When in actuality, the dramatic shift with the Briarwood arc and status quo shake-up with the Chroma Conclave would hit that much harder if you'd gotten to know Vox Machina's "normal"

But as a result the show feels a bit short-changed for character introductions

I picture a version of the show where it starts with more episodic hijinks where each party member and side-NPC gets a moment to meet the others and establish themselves.

Part of it is that its source material started life as an unrecorded home game

Another is that it started life as an extended kick-starter goal to adapt the fan favourite arc where the actual play overcame early growing pains and dropped their problem player

You start the show with the party already assembled, and an array of side-characters they're pretty familiar with, and at ep 3 you immediate jump right into Percy's dark past rearing its head.

My biggest criticism of the Legend of Vox Machina is that, by the nature of its conception, it feels like it's missing a true season 1
