Today we unveiled Maryland's new driver's license and ID card design featuring an optional Hidden Disability symbol.

Under a new law, known as Eric's ID Law, Marylanders with hidden disabilities may add a butterfly symbol on their driver’s license, ID card or moped permit.

The laws strengthen penalties for holders of commercial driver’s licenses convicted of driving under the influence and increase penalties for impaired drivers who leave the scene of a serious crash.

New laws going into effect today will help improve road safety and driver accountability.

Fines for speeding in Maryland will jump starting in October - WTOP News You now could pay a $425 speeding fine in Maryland. Speeders on a deadly road in Prince George’s County are going to be paying a lot more starting next month.

Maryland’s cell phone law prohibits talking or texting from a handheld phone while driving.

✅ Activate your phone’s “Do Not Disturb” feature, silence notifications, or put your phone away in the trunk.

✅ If you have to text, pull over and park your car.
