If Bluesky wants to replace Twitter as the place where political figures and journalists go to discuss the news of the day, they should consider adding anti-fascism and pro-democracy to their public benefit commitments.

Democracy dies in neutrality to fascism.

A lot of tech people seem to want to solve social problems through a purely technical lens.

But, unfortunately, to solve social problems like “trust” and “safety,” you need to make judgements that aren’t purely technical. It requires choices about politics and society. There is no avoiding it.

Bluesky: “If you liked Twitter, you’ll love Bluesky.”

Mastodon: “If you hated Twitter, you’ll like Mastodon.”

Hundreds of millions of people liked what Twitter once was, and what it aspired to be. Bluesky might be that.
