This is how spider mites mate! The male is usually smaller and more elongated than the female. This allows the male to fold its whole idiosoma in half in order to reach its aedeagus to the females genital orifice.

In honour of my 3 year work anniversary and first post on bluesky, this is one of my favourite beetles from the past year. Hybosorus illigeri (Hybosoridae) is associated with dung and carrion but is also known to be predatory and likely also preys upon other saprophages.
