The Covid sweats along with heavy congestion and draining and the weird dizzy dysphoria can really mess with your head. I got Covid very early in 2020 and remember swaying in my room while I tried to change sweat soaked sheets.

One of my best bosses ever had a saying for me when I had an employee I had been friends with first, and not cutting it “I really care about you and want you to have success, but our friendship will not keep me from letting you go if you can’t do your job”.

My thinking: Friendly is what you are to people on the street but employees need more than just that. Could be just how I think of it but I’ve def had friendly bosses that don’t actually care about me as a person at all. You can care about the person and still manage them effextively. Make sense?

Being friendly always sounds stand offish. As a boss you need to offer empathy and understanding, celebrate their wins and mentor them to grow. As long as you also tell them that you hold them accountable for their work and work quality. All bout setting healthy boundaries
