We went to a rural NC fair yesterday. It was delightful, except for the one gauntlet of exhibit tables that featured: people collecting sympathies for Charlie Kirk's family, a ballot access petition for the Constitution Party, multiple churches recruiting members, and a gun raffle.

My favorite way to demonstrate Canadian geographic weirdness is to show that if, for some reason, you decided to drive from Montreal to Vancouver, about 75% of the drive would be in the United States.

I watched The Biggest Loser one (1) time when I was a teenager and was immediately struck by how much of a dick Jillian Michaels was. I was so confused by her fame every time she popped up afterwards. Sometimes first impressions really are the truth.

I have lived in the South for most of my life and eaten at many soul food restaurants. I am well aware that soul food is more than fried chicken and mac and cheese, I mentioned those specifically because they're relevant to Popeyes.

Soul food is not *only* the food of enslaved people. Black Creoles were/are still Black and their food is part of the history of soul food. There's a reason why, for example, food historian Adrian Miller's book "Soul Food" has a recipe for Creole Broiled Catfish.

No I need you to explicitly tell me why you are asserting that Cajun/Creole food cannot also be soul food, despite the existence of Black Cajun/Creole folks who make food that exists squarely within both categories by definition.

Don't worry, I did try to look up "why is it historically impossible for Cajun/Creole food to also be soul food?" and Google thought I was having a stroke. But feel free to educate me with this knowledge that you clearly possess.

That would be a great point if I had said "all Black people think Popeyes is soul food." Nevertheless, if you scroll up and read what I wrote when I posted that link, you will see that I did not.

You're just being obtuse now. A Black woman saying the food tastes “like it was cooked by an older black lady named Lucille” is clear to anybody capable of drawing a line between two points.

Ultimately it's not my place, or yours, as white people to decide if it counts as soul food. But there are clearly many Black folks who would say it does, so the idea is hardly as absurd as you're portraying it.
