Oraxia's alternate helmet is called "Chelicera", which is a reference to an arachnid's mouthparts of the same name. For a full skin, if I were making one, I'd reference a spider's genus or species, and maybe if you want inspiration for the base colors, use that spider's colors.

I can say with some level of confidence that this card was a great upgrade. It's nice having drivers that just work. Nvidia drivers were working decently, but the DX12 bug just killed a good portion of my Steam library.

If you're thinking about Arch, CachyOS is a great entry point. I've been using it for 2 months now with KDE Plasma and I love it. No issues I haven't been able to fix so far.

I can't tell if I'm lucky that CachyOS hasn't "randomly" broken on me yet, or if I'm being a responsible user that doesn't delete or change core files or settings then blames the OS for failing.

Even if you do have to use the terminal to install something, 99% of sites will just straight up have a command you copy and paste into the terminal yourself and all you have to do is press enter, and maybe enter your password. A lot of the basic Linux user experience has been made GUI-friendly.

Those are both valid reasons to not use it. But saying stuff like "I don't want to write 60 lines of code to make a folder" is just stupid. I know it's an exaggeration, but if you're just using your PC to play games and browse the web, the extent of your terminal usage is going to be "update".

I understand if you're not looking to switch over to Linux because of whatever reasons you might have, but don't just blatantly spread misinformation about it if you don't even know what using it is like. You can just say "my programs aren't supported on it" or even "I don't like it".

Coping for Armored Core 6 sequel news sometime soon... It's been 2 years, SURELY AC6 did well enough to get a sequel, right?

My Linux journey is picking up steam. Replaced my RTX 3080 for an RX 9070 XT. I can finally play Monster Hunter Wilds at acceptable framerates. This should be the last time I upgrade anything inside of this PC for a while.

I want genAI to die. I want this AI trend to die. I want features like photo filters to go back to being called what they are and not AI. I want real art to feel valuable and real artists to be valued. I want photography and filmmaking and art and design and I want voice acting and editing. Not bots

Oh shoot, these look awesome! Well hopefully when you do journey into Linux, the solution you decide on works well for you so you can keep doing what you do. Something else you could feasibly do is dual-boot Linux and Windows with a boot manager. Best of both worlds that way.

From what I can tell just from looking it up, Krita seems to be more suitable for artists than GIMP is. I'm no artist so I can't exactly make any claims to verify it, but visually comparing it to GIMP, Krita seems to be more straightforward.

24.10.2025 13:13 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

No problem! Winboat is a relatively new development iirc, so it might not be as smooth of an experience as it would be just using Windows itself. If you end up wanting a native Linux replacement, GIMP and Krita run directly through Linux without the need for any emulation layer.

24.10.2025 12:58 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I tested it out so I didn't just accidentally lie to you, but you can install a program on Linux called "Winboat" which is a functional Windows virtual machine, and run Paint dot net (among other things) through it. It works without issue and installs easily once set up.

24.10.2025 12:49 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Yeah, Linux really is improving with compatibility, but it's still not something I'd just recommend willy-nilly unless you're not put-off by trial and error and being okay with sacrificing certain functionality. Personally, I don't lose much by the switch, but others do. It's really up to the user.

I've gotten some games that are on the Lutris site to work, and some that aren't on it as well. On the other hand, some games that are on Lutris I can't figure out how to get them installed properly. You don't really lose much by trying, you may be surprised at what you can achieve through it.

24.10.2025 05:51 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

An entry into Lutris doesn't guarantee functionality, it just means that someone has tried making it work before. However, getting games to install through Lutris is as simple as downloading the game's .exe file and running it in Lutris as an installer. This is the trial and error portion of it.

24.10.2025 05:49 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

ProtonDB is mostly for games that are on Steam, so if a game you want isn't available on Steam, you most likely won't find it represented there. You might have better luck looking on the Lutris site, since it includes games that aren't on Steam as well. And sadly yeah, some of it is trial and error.

24.10.2025 05:34 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I'm not trying to "gotcha" you, but what DO you mean? There are solutions outside of Steam and Epic. Lutris for example is a games manager that can install games directly from an .exe file as if you were on Windows. It's not perfect and it doesn't work for everything, but you might be surprised.
