I think there's a desire to have The Candidate today and begin campaigning now, and the hunger to do so involves ignoring genuine criticisms and pretending that people will hold their nose and vote for Newsom. And I think that's a dangerous assumption, tbh.

I don't believe it's true that he's the only one either willing or capable, and I also think some of his efforts to remain prominent over the past months have been misguided or just plain wrong. I also think Dem strategists are blinkered if they think people will "get over" their issues with him.

It's fascinating seeing the continuing reaction to people saying "No, we won't vote for Gavin Newsom, he's a terrible pick*" being "Yes, but Gavin Newsom, though, right? 😉" from certain (vocal) quarters.

You have it the wrong way around. TVs grew plump and bloated on the Negative Vibes emitted by violent crime. That's what the bunny ear antennas were for.

They have gin already in them! Though the last KLM flight I was on, cabin crew strongly suggested not actually drinking it; apparently "free trapped-in-a-ceramic-house gin" is not the best quality.

I don't know if you're like me, but I get overwhelmed with this sense of "I know I can't help everyone, so where the hell do I start?"

Five bucks a day to turn down the volume on that sense of being powerless, even if it's just a fraction, feels like a good deal to me.
