21st March is obviously going to be a big day for choral societies across the UK. We see your magnificent programme of Magnificats and raise you one Paul Drayton Passion! Wishing you a successful concert.

Thank you. Likewise St Just Sports & Fitness Centre. Emergency services and many volunteers working hard but it’s still miserable for many here. And raining again today!

Impressive turnout for rehearsal tonight, despite the fact that some members’ homes still don’t have power or water. At least our rehearsal room is warm and well lit!

The Bluesky verification methodology offers 3 options. Option 1 is to be photographed but the app then deletes the photo after age approval. It isn’t retained. As media rep for this choir, my age is a state secret but the choir’s in its mid-40s. We’ve secured verification without sharing paperwork!

Nor PCCs either, very soon!

Remember the singers’ motto: “Have voice, will travel!”

It most certainly does! A truly great hymn tune. However here in Cornwall you’re unlikely to persuade us away from Lyngham for these words. Nothing makes for Christmas like Lyngham sung properly antiphonally by a Cornish congregation!

The St Mary’s Singers of Truro gave us O Radiant Dawn at 19.30 one day last week so I don’t think this lovely music actually speeds the arrival thereof! But the dark grey sky in Cornwall is now getting a bit brighter so it may reach you soon.

Our final rehearsal of 2025 this evening, in which we’ve enjoyed singing carols just for fun. Our conductor was appropriately be-tinselled and the Christmas tree of Archbishop Benson school suitably festive!

If Christmas isn't Christmas for you without Messiah, it's not in our music programme this year but our friends at Truro Choral Society are singing it next Saturday. Some of our members belong to both choirs, and some of us will also be in the audience. We hope to see you there.

Thanks to everyone who supported the St Petrocs carol service last night, and sympathies who could not make it because of flooded roads. It was good to see you there.

We are looking forward to singing for St Petrocs on 5th December. Our set will include the St Day Carol, one of Cornwall's own carols, in John Rutter's lovely arrangement of it. Do come and support this event if you are free.

Tom, if you lived in Cornwall you'd always be in shorts and T-shirt, even on the rare mornings when windscreen de-icing is needed. We're a musical nation: all that singing over centuries seems to have made us resilient!
