On this day in 1820, the Stannary Court of Blackmore (St Austell moors) was held at the George and Dragon in St Clement. The Stannary Court dealt with people who had broken Stannary Law.

The court enforced Stannary Law, its jury comprising six tin miners. Stannary Courts continued to operate in Kernow until 1897 - nearly 150 years after the last meeting of the Stannary Parliament.

Today is the Feast of St Crowan, patron of Crowan, near St Erth. She is said to have built an Oratory on the site of Crowan Church. Also the Feast of St Euny, patron saint of Lelant, and the Feast of St Bridget marking Imbolc - the start of spring.
Today is the Feast of King Charles the Martyr - marking the execution of King Charles I on this this day in 1649. He is the patron of the parish church in Falmouth.
