On this day in 1820, the Stannary Court of Penwith and Kerrier was held at the King's Arms in Penryn. The court enforced Stannary Law, its jury comprising six tin miners. Stannary Courts continued to operate in Kernow until 1897 - nearly 150 years after the last meeting of the Stannary Parliament.

#OnThisDay in 1643, the Cornish Royalist Army routed the Parliamentarians at the Battle of Braddock Down near Boconnoc, securing Cornwall for the King. 1,500 prisoners were taken and 200 Roundheads were slain - the Cornish losing barely a man.
