There's a good battle going between Jelly Roll and Bailey Zimmerman for the "20% of songs on country radio are just nu-metal ballads" crown. I'll give Jelly Roll the nod for now.
(Related, another 20% are just Matchbox 20/Wallflowers/1997 AAA radio songs. But that's another skeet for another time.)

Jason Aldean's "Try That in a Small Town" (entering the charts at No. 30 this week) ... laughably bad and stupid. If you're going to write a "fantasize about killing a big-city liberal" song, you cannot and will not top Hank Jr.'s "A Country Boy Can Survive," so don't even try.

It's impressive how Jordan Davis can become exponentially more of a Wife Guy with each successive single. By the last verse of "Next Thing You Know" he's basically like, it's the future now and my children have grown up to be Wife Guys of their own!
