The Texas National Guard has invaded my state and I spent the morning searching “best handguns for beginners” for when they come for me because of the Pride Flag in my yard. So…… not great.

And WTF is your State Library in Hawaii doing??? They BANNED Banned Books Week??? What is this world???
(Also, is it common knowledge there that that’s happening? Are people mad about it?)

It's going to be a ROUGH time for libraries for awhile. The biggest wholesale library book vendor, Baker & Taylor, is closing, and there's no way their competition can absorb their massive client base. So... expect delays on your new stuff while thousands of libraries scramble frantically. 😭

I'm rewatching Legend of Korra for the first time since it aired, and boy. This plot about government overreach and detaining people en masse for "associating" with "terrorist groups" really hits different in 2025.

I’m still a little salty about it— not so much about the Kroger-brand diet cola on my khakis, but about the fact that he did it from his car. If he’d done it face to face, he’d have had to look us in the eyes and be outnumbered. In the car, he got away with it.

Last night I was sitting on the patio of the local gay bar and a big loud truck drove by and threw an empty can at me (well, he threw it at *us*, the queers, but he hit me).

Not exactly a hate crime, but it is a reminder that even in a city big enough to have a gay bar, some people still hate us.

It should be illegal for me to get a UTI and a sinus infection at the same time. I demand compensation from the universe.

I only got it briefly to watch Agatha All Along and then canceled again.

Everyone tells me I'm so lucky to have all vinyl plank in my house, but I'm here like "But then everything just sits on top of it! And then I step on it! And it sticks to my foot! And then I track it all over!" I actually would prefer carpet, at least in some rooms.

Devastating that modern social media really doesn't have the equivalent of posting your current favorite song lyrics as you AIM away message. (Or setting your current fave to play on your MySpace) We really lost the peak of human communication there.

I'm aware! I'm ace myself! I just think people over-use that fact (that some ace folks are still sex-positive) when it comes to fandom/fic. In my experience, I have met VERY few people who identify as ace or aro-ace but still enjoy sex, but people ascribe it to like EVERY ace person in media.

Fair enough! I haven't dug into the specifics on the fandom on social media, my next step is a Tumblr deep-dive. But just having watched the show, the AO3 selection did shock me. (But I'm largely in WLW spaces, I know MLM is bigger. I just forget sometimes.)

If this was meant snarkily: I wasn't talking about you specifically! Like what you like, it's just not for me!

If it was meant genuinely: Filtering isn't the whole solution-- esp. not basic filtering. It's more that I would feel out of place in the fandom at large if I'm not into the biggest ship.

I really want to get into Hazbin Hotel because I really like the characters, but then I go to AO3 and all the fics are Alastair/Lucifer smut. Like, did they just call it AO3 because DaddyIssues dot com was taken? (Also, Alastair is implied to be ace at least once, so RUDE.)
