He was always there.
Most peoples' exposure to the Biting Pear of Salamanca is via the "LOL WUT" meme, which covered up the parts of the critter that weren't cropped out. You can see him poking out there at the bottom.
My weirdest creation is almost old enough to drink.

Something’s cookin’ with H.G. Wells’ morlock underground mutant men (from his ‘Time Machine’ novel) who’ve built… Some kind of diabolic machine of their own, in this piece for ‘Aether’, @theonyxpath.bsky.social's pulp Victorian weird science fiction table-top role-playing game book, out now.

The pear is on a grassy hill, with a river winding its way through the background. A tiny critter sits a few feet away with a camera on a tripod, preparing to take a picture.
@tkingfisher.com Happy 20th Anniversary to the Biting Pear!

Discord's doing great lately. Today they had an update, and at least for me, Discord completely locks up as soon as it launches. The app is now unusable.
I wonder how much of this update was written by fucking AI

I propose "Ghastley" would be a perfectly cromulent name for a ghost butler
Fair enough!

Entering the town of Twin Peaks.
A retro looking rocket standing on its tailfins as a 1950s car races towards it. A number of tall mushroom-shaped buildings are in the background. Text reads "Atompunk 101: The atomic age aesthetic in sci-fi and pop culture."
Sure, I'm just operating from the perspective that SF is often about examining changing technologies and their impact on people, so this seems to be that, but... retroactively?
Like, Atompunk is sci-fi for the '50s but it doesn't need to have been made *in* the 50s.
Given that what you're describing fits what could be considered science fiction for the time it was written, perhaps simply Gothic Science Fiction would be fitting?
