Elections are more or less a substitute for force of arms. That's why constantly delegitimizing the process (voter fraud! rigged! Jan 6th was no big deal!) is so corrosive.

It's clear that a segment of the userbase clearly wants an end to politics. Some of it's ideological (luxury space communism fans), some untreated depression, some of it is genuine ignorance of American governance, some are just Republicans, some probably foreign ops.
