In my department of roughly 20 faculty, about 1/3 of my male colleagues are called either βLucβ or βPatrickβ. This lowers the odds of embarrassment for visitors & new colleagues, who have a decent shot of guessing right if theyβve blanked on a name, but pick one of those. So, thereβs that.
