Today marks my last day as President of the CMA. As I wrap up my term with @cmadocs.bsky.social, I want to thank you all - patients and physicians - for allowing me to advocate on your behalf.

Canadian health care has a long way to go, but I know we’re headed in the right direction.

Americans actually pay more tax dollars per person for healthcare than Canadians. Then on top of that they pay insurance fees, deductibles, and out of pocket fees.

I had a great discussion with Dr. Michael Gardam and Amanda Lang about the rise of measles cases, the decline of vaccinations, and challenges faced by families in Canada from misinformation.

Yesterday, I emailed Members of Parliament outlining the CMA’s calls to action and how we can collaborate to improve #AccessToCare.  I encourage you to join me — a collective voice is always more powerful to drive change.

King Charles' visit has me and many others reflecting on Canada's unique identity, and the universal health care system that will always be a part of it.

Canadians have something in common: we look out for each other. Through collaboration, we can improve our health system, and our country.

Pharmacare and dental care were also mentioned in today's Throne Speech. Maintaining and expanding these programs is important work that I remain hopeful about.

Also happy to hear that #reconciliation will be another key focus for this government - and hoping that this includes advancing reconciliation in health spaces.

Pleased to hear the government's commitment to breaking down remaining labour mobility barriers. Allowing doctors to practice where they're needed is a small change that would help make the Canadian health system more responsive to the needs of Canadians.
