MP Charlotte Nichols visits Warrington school to discuss democracy
18.01.2026 15:32 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Public opinion is irrelevant.
It's a negotiation between employees and employers. In this situation, the employees hold all the cards and will either be successful or many will leave for better remunerated shores.
If we leave kids unsupervised to access social media and we don't discuss how most of it isn't real and how it thrives on clicks and eyeballs from divisive content, then we're not doing our job as parents.
24.11.2025 18:12 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I think its about congestion.
13.11.2025 14:29 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0WE WILL NEVER STOP FIGHTING UNTIL THIS HAPPENS.
09.11.2025 22:00 โ ๐ 68 ๐ 22 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I can't disagree.
09.11.2025 13:19 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0If we take single market as an example. They have publicly acknowledged that leaving it has harmed us economically. This alone is a big step with such a politically divisive issue.
09.11.2025 13:08 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0It's an error to try to 'out reform' Reform. I agree.
09.11.2025 13:05 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0They have. But the 'Labour attacking greens' angle works better for most of our media so this is the message that gets amplified.
09.11.2025 13:04 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The lack of physics specialist teachers is a severe issue in schools serving disadvantaged communities.
We need to see a plan on addressing the shortage of Physics teachers before we can address the social equity of triple science being offered.

Both I think.
09.11.2025 12:54 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Maybe I'm wrong. I suppose we'll find out in the next 4 years.
09.11.2025 12:35 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Lots of schoolkids know Nigels name too. That's the point I'm making.
I prefer many of Zack's policies but he'll never get the chance to implement them. Hopefully some of them will start to have a subtle influence on the current government's direction.
It's a long time to the next election. I know quite a few Labour MPs and they are decent people. The message will change.
09.11.2025 12:02 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 11 ๐ 2I completely agree. Whilst I don't think the greens have a chance with FPTP, you can only hope that Labour will see the success they are having with more positive messages and start to change their plan.
09.11.2025 11:58 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Some aren't. But the ratio of faceless/nameless profiles is about 20 to 1 at the moment. Does that not strike you as odd?
09.11.2025 11:55 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 17 ๐ 0I agree. They are offering an alternative. But is it realistically achievable? They're not going to win a majority under the FPTP system, so what happens if the Greens manifesto has to be delivered through a coalition government? And who would they go into coalition with?
09.11.2025 11:52 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 6 ๐ 0I don't disagree. But also, bots are an issue on social media.

I don't disagree. I think Labour have struggled (and are currently failing) with how to counteract Reform on immigration.
Hate is a powerful emotion and it is being exploited by many politicians worldwide.
You're on social media by choice though. Surely the point of it is to listen to and share opinions?
09.11.2025 11:04 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 11 ๐ 2Lawless how? If there is something that you want to say that you don't want your name associated with, you have to self reflect on whether you should be saying it at all.
09.11.2025 10:37 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 7 ๐ 0First two replies are faceless accounts with no names.
09.11.2025 10:00 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 24 ๐ 2Feels a bit students politics to me. What does this achieve?
09.11.2025 09:41 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0He's right. Just because I might prefer Zacks populist policies to Nigels doesn't make any of it more achievable.
The current government have inherited an absolute mess snd it is going to take adults a long time to sort it out.
I much prefer this option. Spelling out my email address etc at check in has always seemed the least efficient way to get to my room.
01.11.2025 20:42 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I don't think children should be making that decision at 13. A good teacher ignites a love of a subject. A poor teacher could mean a child not choosing to study a subject post 13. That isn't a sensible way to do things.
01.11.2025 20:15 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I disagree. The G in GCSE is for General. Young people should get a broad education that covers as many subjects as possible.
01.11.2025 19:26 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The enforced remodelling of that part of town wasn't all bad tbh
28.10.2025 08:33 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Her apology works even better for Reform. 'Look what they made me apologise for' 'You can't speak your mind anymore' etc etc.
Normalising this kind of language so more people are happy to 'other' whole sections of society, that don't look like them.
