Oh it'll never be a *great* story I don't think but the first episode has some very weird pacing and makes some very odd choices and if that doesn't get fixed at least a little bit I'll have a hard time finishing the season lol

I had some issues with the writing in the first episode but I'm willing to give it a couple more episodes to cook lol

He did the same for all the Star Wars prequels, and also when I was like 16 he handed me a USB key with the entire 00's Battlestar Galactica series that he'd pirated and just told me to watch it lmao

I obviously would've found it on my own but my dad did in fact pull me out of school every time a Lord of the Rings movie came out so he could see less crowded matinee screenings without going alone, then bought me a box set of the books so I could understand why he was upset about Tom Bombadil

thinking about the time i was on a 4 hour bus ride for a field trip in grade 7 and the bus had a dvd player and my catholic school teachers turned off Spaceballs halfway through for too much swearing and then decided a more age appropriate movie to put on instead was Hardball starring Keanu Reeves

Babel is far and away the best book I've read so far this year, this one is definitely going in the list

more than just bad animation too, terrible pacing, stiff dialogue and some truly bizarre minor changes have made it feel soulless - the fact that the source material's fan base was enough to get it a 2 cour first season and then have it turn out this way is so, so frustrating

The Beginning After the End isn't the most unique or groundbreaking story in the first place but good lord it deserved a better anime adaptation than this

its cool that Top Chef US is doing a season in Canada but watching them do a poutine challenge where the contestants (including a chef *from* Montreal) seemed desperate to make anything other than poutine was physically painful to watch

that being said i do still like the show overall and they have been on an upward trajectory from last season so i do have some hope here still

please lord let this be the season the wheel of time writers figure out what to do with perrin, he has one of my favourite character arcs in the early books but his plot lines have consistently been the worst part of the show for me
