I love writing fiction. I have a WiP on the boil that has elements of magical realism and horror — so all the good stuff! (I also enjoy poetry a bit … !) All words my own © unless they are reposts or I state otherwise.
Rain coated skin
Umbrella dripped
No shelter from sin
Grace stripped
Fingers spread
Shoots coil
In soft, dark, soil
Skin bled
Roots grew
A hollow tree
A place to be
To start anew
Free from darkness
The starkness
Of night
In a house of wood
There stood
A #raincoat of oak

I went cold
Not because I wanted to
But because I had to
—Needed to
The #eventuality that this would happen
Was not lost on me
Waters became muddied
Focus waned
Eyes fixed on a horizon
That was always out of reach
But my tides
They call me back
Lunar of a lost sea…

Where the hell is it? Mother’s finger is always in my pocket. It’s all I have left of her. I dig my nails deep into my palm.
I swipe my security card and rush through the halls. Finger food and cold meats are laid out. I have to find it before the guests arrive. Mother hated parties.

Mary watched the rain stream off his capotain and pool at his feet, rotting the already rotten wood. He smelt of manure, wet fur, and iron. Straw, flecked with red, clung to his boots like a second shoe.
“Shelter?” He asked.
She moved aside and let him in, locking the door behind them.

Today, seek #clarity
Save yourself from feelings of disparity
Don’t begrudge
Another’s success
Though to trudge is hard
When the mind won’t rest
Some things are earned
Some are given
Others, learned
By those that are driven
But remember to enjoy the sun
And know—you matter to someone

“What’s that?” Came Ruth’s voice from behind her.
Celia shoved it into her coat pocket. “Nothing”
A storm gathered in the distance. Oh Ruth, what have you done?

She walked in a state of hollowness. Her mind, blanketed. She was no longer in this world, so she was not a part of it.
She’d reached #nirvana.

'Rewriting can be a total joy when you see how small additions can bring a whole manuscript to life' 💡
Author and former literary agent, Abbie Greaves, shares her three top tips for those in the middle of rewriting a novel:
I’m learning Latin too … ! But I’m right the beginning and trying to remember more than 30 noun endings depending how it is declined (it could even be 60 endings!)

If you can be sure of nothing else in this life
Be sure of this:
It will come for you.
To hold your hand
To be your guide
Be not afraid
For #death is certain
Let its absoluteness
Be the reason
For your passion
Your purpose
Your drive
Let it be the reason you live without regret

So much of your #time
Slips through our cracks
Life is a gift
Dipped in irony
The end is fated
We will always become

#WriteCBC task from @lucyrosecreates.bsky.social: Let’s revisit a classic. You’ve gone to bed and turned off the light, and as you close your eyes, you feel a warm breath come upon your cheek. Your senses are fizzing. There is a new darkness swarming in the corner of your room. What happens next?
03.04.2025 10:00 — 👍 32 🔁 4 💬 67 📌 2The scent of sweet milk fills my nostrils. I look at the tiny figure, sleeping soundly beside me. The darkness shifts, watching, assessing. It’s time. I reach towards the boy. They say the first possession is the easiest, but I’m not so sure.
