I never smelled this EDP version but I simply love Angel Muse EDT. It has this nutty feel and the vetiver-patchouli (akigalawood) base that you described.

#SOTD Eau Duelle EDP. The vanilla is more prominent in this eau de parfum version and the nuances (or duality) brought by incense and peppery notes are somewhat lost. Although juniper isn’t listed among the notes, I can feel an idea or a trace of it. #perfumesky #fragrancesky

#SOTD Eau des Sens. Classic crisp eau de cologne-style fragrance with excellent orange blossom (which I mistake for neroli) and bitter orange. The juniper in the heart brings a bitter-green twist. Drydown is vegetal musk (angelica) with hints of orange water. #perfumesky #fragrancesky

Diptyque seems to have a thing for juniper. Eau Duelle EDT, Eau des Sens EDT, Orphéon EDP… I can’t think of other houses with so many junipers as the main star or the co-star. #perfumesky #fragrancesky

I wore it a couple times in the last few days and fear to be falling for this contradictory slow burn. Interestingly, I don’t think I’m getting nose blind to it lately.

Patchouli Paris has a bigger (and beautiful) sillage and is perhaps more challenging with its earthiness (I suspect of cypriol) and an ambergris undertone that confers a sweaty & sweet nastiness. DotD is a fresh woody patchouli reminiscent of a shower/bath with patchouli scented products.

#SOTD Dance of the Dawn. A rich and woody patchouli stands out. Besides, DotD has a juicy and fruity freshness to it. It’s indeed similar to Patchouli Paris, but the latter is more powdery, slightly sweeter, and highlights the earthy facets of patchouli as well. #perfumesky #fragrancesky

I regret not having bought a bottle back in the day.

#SOTD Wine Vanilla. Pear, blackcurrant, powdery violet, and jasmine create a lovely dance in the first few hours. But this is a fragrance of basenotes. Musks (kind of Musc Ravageur-style musks) set the tone accompanied by cedar (very nice), tonka and maybe some vanilla. #perfumesky #fragrancesky

Chengdu’s final puts Tabilo comfortably back in the top 100, but I think he will need other results to keep in there considering he defends points in Shanghai, Almaty and Paris (and maybe more).

With this knowledge, the cozy & warm nut I’m smelling is likely to be hazelnut and I’m gonna say the intricate sweet powderiness is a combined effect of saffron and an apricot-like (or even peach-like) osmanthus. This saffron-peach impression remains strong in the drydown.

The listed notes are:

Top - pear, frankincense, hazelnut

Heart - saffron, rose, jasmine sambac, osmanthus

Base - cistus, sandalwood, akigalawood, ambergris, vanilla

#SOTD Guidance. I applied this before looking for the listed notes (ofc I knew that akigalawood should be present) and my first impression was a sweet, powdery & nutty heliotrope. Wrong!!! There is no heliotrope in Guidance. So what was that? ⬇️ #perfumesky #fragrancesky

Fifth ATP final for Tabilo. Third coming from qualies.

I like to wear CN on cold days because of the patchouli and the warmth the fragrance evokes, but CN’s patchouli needs fabric to separate itself from the whole. On skin, I can detect hints of a spicy patchouli, but it’s more of background note with a supporting role.

#SOTD Coco Noir. Wearing it after a long time and overwhelmed (not in a bad way) by its projection and silage. On skin, I feel grapefruit, an abstract floral accord with detectable aspects of rose & jasmine, and a comforting warmth. The drydown is a creamy sandalwood. #perfumesky #fragrancesky

Nice to see Tabilo having a good streak (challenger F last week + QF in Chengdu). This has been a rough season for him.

Yeah, I’m still not convinced but don’t want to give up yet because it has a lot of qualities.

I remember watching BM years ago and finding it amusing and creative, despite being super bizarre. Now I’m wondering if it’s worth revisiting. I liked (a lot) a couple of Alan Parker’s films, but some stuff is just very disturbing when you stop to think (e.g., Angel’s Heart).

Considering our current sensibilities, I think the most problematic aspect would be subjecting teen actors to those heavy and violent thematics and the film would probably be too shocking for modern audiences.
