Interestingly, TMR brought memories of the dry woodiness of Eau des Merveilles, a fragrance I hate with all my soul, not because it’s bad, but because there is an incompatibility between us. In a way, TMR is what I was expecting to find in Eau des Merveilles.

Iris brings a grounded earthiness, while oakmoss provide temporary shadow. Meanwhile, a delicate and sweet orange blossom lingers all the way around.

The Mariner’s Rhyme is my first experience with Francesca Bianchi and I’m very satisfied with the introduction. #Perfumesky

#SOTD The Mariner’s Rhyme evokes a dry and oceanic warmth. Without ever having smelled elemi resin itself, I can easily perceive many of the facets associated with the material: peppery, zesty, ambery & incense-y. Here, together with aldehydes (likely), elemi creates the idea of sun-drenched seas.

Montpellier with 64,118 spectators across the week. That’s impressive.

That was a nice week for Grandparino in Montpellier. I should stop saying he’s washed because he keeps bouncing back.

#SOTD The peculiarly pop Angélique Noire. Green, vegetal and musky angelica blends with ripe pear and vanilla creating an idiosyncratic crowd pleaser. A deceptively nuanced musk frag illuminated (or maybe shaded) by green vanilla. #perfumesky

The bergamot-amber-incense phase with almond milk and rose nuances is quite nice.

My olfaction is almost completely restored and I’ve been spending some time with Shalimar l’Essence. In comparison to when I first tried it in December, I now can feel more bergamot and an animalic nuance in the opening, but I still think it’s too demure.
