Love my current colleagues. But it's worth noting this is the first year since I got my PhD in 2015, that I have not worked in a department with at least one international faculty member. And I know the reasons for that has nothing to do with my department or even university.

Simply, we won't have the best colleges in the world anymore. When I still had international colleagues in my department- before the last of them left this past year year- I took them as a sign of my own qualification for my position. I knew I was hired from a competitive international pool.
