I recommend George Dysons book Analogia which has some interesting info about the mad Russian scientific journey that discovered Stellers sea cow.

All my career I have seen important info hidden in research. To see it, distill it, and get it in the right forums (not just media), thats when you get change.

Nothing surprises us in the north of Sweden anymore. Forests are not "growing slower" it is just that there is less land to convert into forest as previously and harvesting has increased in intensity. What this plan will do for lakes and rivers we already know, more eutrophication.

Thats a pertinent bit of news from "Uppdrag granskning" well done. Did we really need a govt study to prove it, not really. So now lets see some action. www.svt.se/nyheter/gran...

No salmon in Swedish rivers AGAIN. In 2023 Sportfiskarna asked the Swedish Agency for Management and Water Agency SwAM (HaV) if they had the goal, tools and plan to react if this was to happen AGAIN. SwAM never replied and here we are AGAIN. SwAM = non adaptive managers www.tv4.se/artikel/5aol...
11.07.2024 06:48 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0With climate change upon us fish need need wide buffer zones of mixed mature forest to keep rivers cool. Sweden is unprepared with < 5 m mean zones. River temps are now more often over 20°, critical for salmon and trout, lets put a proper green roof over our rivers.

Thanks to the BSAC for organising a workshop about cormorants last Friday. To succesfully manage cormorants and threatened fish stocks requires a common knowledge base among all stakeholders.

Thats a historical first and is an indictment on our fisheries management. Many are responsible who will take responsibility! The commercial "bycatch" fishing continues!
