My live rig. Peavey 6505+ on a Thiele cabinet with Electro Voice 12L speaker. In front of it is a 2007 Gibson Les Paul DC Pro.
I remained loyal to the speakers and Gibson, but replaced the amplifier with a Peavey 5150, and later with a 6505. I wanted more gain without using pedals. I added a Rocktron Intellifex and a wah-wah pedal. It was a very simple setup, and I never felt the need to change anything.

A picture from my first serious rehearsal room. My Gibson SG Custom from the early 90s (unfortunately sold in the meantime) is leaning against my Marshall JCM 800, which is standing on two Thiele speaker cabinets equipped with Electro Voice 12L.
Now that I've retired from the stage, I have time to reflect on how my equipment has developed over the years.
I started with Gibson guitars, a Marshall JCM800, two Electro Voice 12L speaker cabinets.
This combination was punchy as hell.

Yeah, I know the Beamblocker. That's where the idea with the tape came from 😀
I taped the big cabinets as well.
The only modification I made to the speaker was to attach Gaffer tape to the upper third of the speaker cover. This resulted in a different sound distribution and fewer high frequencies, which I found more pleasant.

Mein Thiele-Style Lautsprechergehäuse mit einem Electro Voice 12L OEM-Speaker darin. Die Box steht auf dem passenden Flightcase. Vor der Box hängt eine 1992er Gibson M-IV Deluxe in einem Gitarrenstativ.

1/2 Den Trick mit dem Electro Voice 12L kenne ich seit den frühen 90ern. In einem Thiele-Gehäuse als alleiniger oder ergänzender Speaker zu einer anderen Box (ideal mit Celestion Vintage 30) bringt der 12L einen fantastischen Punch und Tiefe/Wärme ins Klangbild. Foto siehe 2/2.

A white Epiphone EDS1275 double-neck electric guitar.
The EDS1275 was a must-buy, as I've been waiting for this model ever since Epiphone was allowed to use the Gibson headstock. Unfortunately, the guitar arrived with a broken switch. The nice people at Gibson are sending me a replacement, so I can now try a repair with the option to fuck it up. 1/

A 1989 Pre-Historic Gibson Les Paul Standard Reissue in Heritage Cherry Sunburst.
This is my 1989 Gibson Les Paul. My first Gibson, bought in 1993. This guitar started it all.
