I looked at the Hyundai and the base model IONIQ 5 was $58,488 and the quality didn't impress. I really liked the Solara, but the base model was $55,179 plus tax. Even with my trade, it would have been around 10K more than I paid for my Forester.

I'll admit that after a month of checking out EVs and hybrids, there was nothing I could afford that would do what I needed. So I gave up and now drive a Forester. At my age, this could be the last vehicle I buy.

In my search for a replacement SUV last Oct, I checked out the Rivian R2. I was even willing to wait until they were available. Then I looked at the projected MSRP... $66 500USD or $93,871.40CAD for a base model. The SUV I bought after my trade was $32,280CAD. And you wonder why EVs aren't selling?

Not being legally able to graduate high school in Que because I couldn't speak/read/write French. Not being able to get on a fire department after 6 years as a military firefighter. Getting passed over for promotion because of being too old... I totally understand. It sucks, but keep trying.
