Everyone knows it has to be paid for, whether it's via taxes or your paycheck. The big problem is having access to insurance outside of your employer. The adminstrative waste in the current system is insane, for employers and medical providers alike. Portable insurance would help eliminate that.

Exactly. It's a problem when companies have layoffs, leaving employees with no insurance; for people who want/need to retire early and aren't yet Medicare eligible; for the self employed or part time workers. Everyone should have access to affordable health care.
