What part of your MS is that? If it makes you feel any better, I was working on a sensitivity issue for a customers MS on Friday, and mid-way through troubleshooting the rough pump decides to die. Guess I have two problems to fix now!

In my first post-doc paper years ago we ended up changing Qtrap to "tandem linear ion trap" in the title. I can't recall if that was our call or a request from the editor now though. Keeps it more general rather than brand specific.

Unfortunately not; I have a couple of PMs scheduled to do on the days the conference is running. Someone's got to keep the instruments humming 😉

I have the same reaction when a fat possum jumps on our roof at 2am. The walking gait of a brush tail possum is surprisingly similar to that of a human.

It is amazing how well most of those instruments have lasted though. Particularly the ion trap part. One of my former labs is running an original LTQ still; I first used that in 2009 and it wasn't new then, has to be pushing nearly 20 years!

I've been out of academia for 2 months now, but still have an honorary affiliation and email address with my previous institution. One of my close colleagues has only just realised I've updated my email signature to include "Extinguished Research Fellow." It's really made my day 😀
