I agree but what now? If they don’t break their tax manifesto commitments, can they fix public services and/ or make Britons feel better off enough before the next election to starve off Reform/ the it’s all the fault of immigrants narrative? I fucking hope so but remain to be convinced.

Sudan siege ends in bloodbath despite pleas for mercy Evidence emerges of atrocities committed by the paramilitary RSF after it seized control of El Fasher

"Nathaniel Redmond, director of the Yale school of public health, said on Tuesday that the “horror, scale and velocity of killing” in El Fasher had left pools of blood visible from satellites"

Pity the West simply does not have any tools to pressure UAE, which is the RSF's main funder and supplier

What are they playing at? Yes, Kabour are held by the Tory press to a much higher standard but FFS they just needed to do the basics and start trying to make people feel better off. This really is going to hell in a handcart!

Geert Wilders’s Party for Freedom Loses Seats in Dutch Election A center-left party was poised to become the country’s largest political party, according to exit polls. The anti-immigrant Party for Freedom, led by Mr. Wilders, was expected to lose 12 seats.

A Dutch center-left party appeared to be the biggest winner in national elections on Wednesday, a strong rebuke to Geert Wilders’s party, according to exit polls.

Hilarious! These loons would be happy for us to be speaking Russian and eating gruel, so long as they could maintain the purity of their ideological fantasies.

@ofalafel.bsky.social Hey Olaf. Just finished reading Trixie Pickle Art Avenger with my 6 yr old son and just wanted to say thanks for several evenings of giggles, guffaws and arty education. We thoroughly enjoyed a very happy time reading it together and can’t wait to start Art Avenger 2. Cheers!

Agree that we’re not playing well enough, but think Mason needs more time and better players before we judge him. To sack a first time manager after such little time is an option but, given the Mowbray debacle, to do so poses serious questions about the decision making of ownership and Nestor.

Today at the Inquiry, Boris Johnson was confronted with overwhelming evidence that his government failed to plan for school closures prior to March 2020.

He refused to accept it, claiming the issue ‘cropped up’.

He’s still incapable of accepting the facts.

Something tells me he never thought that he had to be across this. Or, one assumes, that he had to really be across anything. In his mind, he was simply there to cosplay his boyhood fantasies about Churchill. He never considered, even for a second, that becoming PM meant he had to do anything else.

I want to vote Green and like so much of what Zack has said since becoming leader but I remain worried that he and his supporters are the antisemitic, Communism idealising, Nato abolishing Corbynistas who live in a world of ideals, and would rather let facists in than compromise their utopian vision

We’re due a curriculum review and hopefully Labour will make positive changes to address the teaching that the British Empire was nothing but a success and a force for good. Hopefully it changes the toxic beliefs/ worldviews that too many Britons have and that explains so much of our voting.

I wonder why? 🤔

Ignoring the fact that it’s already in the curriculum, the promotion of an industry that contributes less than so many others is such rose-tinted nostalgia about the good old days. I’m surprised he’s not calling for kids to drink unpasteurised milk because ‘it never did us harm when we were young’.

Great article, Matt. Thanks. CC definitely had one arm tied behind his back by Hoyer and Ricketts, but he still could’ve played his free hand better.

Being accountable to an international court means our Government has to answer to them if it tries to undermine your human rights. Be very suspicious of any UK politician who wants to remove that check on their powers.

If only there was money to be found from taxing wealth as we do income, increasing taxes on higher earners, tax unused land held by developers and tax the profits of big businesses much more. But, I guess, you’ve gotta dance to your paymasters’ tunes, and they sure don’t like any of those things.

Like Chess with a Set of Checkers: Craig Counsell Tries (and Fails) to Outfox Pat Murphy with Lesser Pieces Perhaps there's more Craig Counsell could have done Monday. Perhaps there are a few buttons he could have pressed instead of the ones he did, or perhaps he should have pressed the same ones sooner. But the truth is, the Brewers are simply better than his Cubs squad.

Millwall’s xG was 0.77. I’m no xG fan, but it suggests we weren’t as bad as the scoreline. I think Mason made some strange decisions, but I’m questioning Nestor and his magic spreadsheets much more at the moment. His recruitment has been a lot more miss than hit, and we have big gaps in the squad.

The pro Russian Ukrainian MP who bribed Gill was merely an intermediary for 'Moscow's Man in Ukraine', Putin's right hand man Viktor Medvedchuk. Gill hosted a round table of MPs as he launched Putin's spurious peace plan in 2019 3/12
