09.02.2026 03:41 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The cost of solar and wind continues to drop, making renewable energy the smarter financial choice. Transitioning away from fossil fuels is better for the planet and better for our wallets too.
09.02.2026 03:41 โ ๐ 167 ๐ 47 ๐ฌ 4 ๐ 0New investments in electricity infrastructure are overwhelmingly clean. Supporting these projects helps phase out polluting power plants and safeguards health and nature.
09.02.2026 03:40 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Over 40% of the worldโs electricity now comes from low-carbon sources. Thatโs real progress toward protecting our climate and communities. Every switch to clean power counts.
09.02.2026 03:40 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Solar and wind are expanding faster than ever. In 2024, global solar generation doubled in just three years. That means cleaner air and more affordable electricity for everyone.

I think 68% of storage worldwide is pumped hydro, starting bout 130 years ago.
Batteries on the other hand have grown explosively because the current tech is basically plug and play.
So we can probably expect batteries to catch up.
Good Point!

I was surprised to learn how invested Norway ๐ณ๐ด is in oil and gas.
They didnโt start out electric โก๏ธ they consciously chose to shift. Eventually their EV sales grew by about 10% / year.
I see hope for North America.
I had misunderstood Edison for quite some time. But I now see they have an important part to play in the โecosystemโ as we transition to cleaner transport. ๐
08.02.2026 19:51 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0In Canada Iโm tempted to favour one political party over the next.
Luckily the science is impartial and the technology isnโt partisan.
We need this to work for everyone and as hard as it may seem we need all the people pulling together.
Hang in there! You are not alone.
Take heart. Weโll get through these things together ๐ข๐
08.02.2026 19:47 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Pumped hydro accounts for the majority of electricity storage world wide. You are right itโs effective and proven technology.

We love that with an EV, our fuel costs are about 1/4 what gas would cost. No oil changes, no air filters, no brakes, no transmission flushes, no mufflers to fix... When you can, check out EVs. they are fun to drive.
07.02.2026 17:41 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0You are right. EV purchase is more expensive even if total cost of EV ownership is lower.
"They" have made it a choice between pollution and more expensive EV cars.
Canada subsidizes oil &gas tremendously. And then we pay for the health, environmental and other impacts with our taxes.
In case this info is helpful:
Norway seems to be coping just fine at 98% EV sales last year and they are quite cold and icy.
Plugged in cars tend to stay warm and ready.
Newer generations of batteries promise to work in -40C (not that we get that where I live in BC)
Striking the mandate completely suggests that the Canadian government will not help us ENSURE we get to clean transportation.
Leaving it to the market is WEAK
Incentives only bring balance because of fossil fuel subsidies.
FF externalize their costs to; environment, climate cost, health, us
Good Riddance to Stellantis who just closed a Canadian car plant moving to the US.
Only 7 out of their 42 (CAD) models are BEV.
They aren't serious about Canada or Battery Electric Vehicles.
LG is a proven leader in battery and EV battery technology.

Good for Billie Eilish!
Acting Justly matters.
Often the reaction and outrage reveals more than the statement.
"Nobody is illegal on stolen land" confronts the hypocrisy of an ever expanding dominance over others.
Good Job Billie.
Thank you for speaking about what matters.
ALBERTA showed leadership by stopping the practice of burning coal for electricity. NS, SK and NB need to catch up to the rest of Canada and stop polluting with Canada's dirtiest fuel.

Good start Canada, but we've got work to do.
Yes, almost 80% of Canadian electricity is clean. 9% from solar and wind, some nuclear and LOTS from Hydro.
That Hydro for the most part has been constant for many decades (50+ years)
We are COASTING. Lets clean up the remaining coal and gas.
Is anyone surprised these big companies are outsourcing jobs outside of North America?
As long as corporations put $ first people, society, sustainability, safety will not be first.
A "hero" bollard

Our 84 members would love to see at least 1 bollard installed at every BCTransit & Translink bus stop. Our friends at @fraserhealth.ca Like "Injury Prevention"
Low cost, enduring protection for pedestrians & transit users from deadly motorists.
US data.
Solar is growing. But still there is lots of polluting production.
We need to grow solar to shrink pollution.
(? will you write a letter to your city council or state/province ?)
Ask them to approve clean energy projects.
Ask them to purchase clean energy (only)

Batteries are stretching the hours when solar power can be consumed.
There is another solution. Transmission.
When the sun has set in New York or Montreal, its still shining on the West coast in California and BC. Transmission allows us to "time-shift"
More good news for batteries in support of solar.
Look at that blue battery bar growing.
This is not theoretical. This is INSTALLED
Ever heard someone say "the sun doesn't always shine?" when they are disparaging solar power?
One word. BATTERIES
Help your friends shift out fo the past to the current reality. Solar and batteries deliver non-polluting power.
Look at the yellow in this bar graph. This shows where solar is meeting increased electricity demand. See how the % is climbing? This is hopeful.
When will it meet 100% of demand growth?
The economics are promising.
(? Will you tell someone about the promise of clean energy in your city ?)
Action time: At home do you buy electricity that is clean? would you pay a few more dollars a month to shift to clean energy? (reducing the market for polluting power) :-)
Could you suggest your workplace shifts to clean energy?
Make your next hot water tank electric not gas?
what can you do?
