SB 1034, the Parking Equity for Disabled Veterans Act, would reform state law so that disabled veterans no longer are forced to meet stricter medical eligibility requirements than other disabled Californians to access parking benefits.

A recent report estimated that closing the Water’s Edge loophole in California could increase state revenues by $3B annually.

The joint hearing will explore legal and policy implications of eliminating the Water’s Edge loophole, along with countering viewpoints.

The hearing will provide an overview of the “Water’s Edge” tax loophole in which large corporations assign profits to offshore subsidiaries to avoid paying their full share of taxes.

PSA: The California Senate and Assembly Committees on Revenue and Taxation will hold a joint informational hearing on Wednesday, Feb. 11, in the State Capitol. The hearing, Peering Over the Water’s Edge: State Taxation of Foreign Subsidiary Income, will begin at 9:30 a.m. in Room 112.

SB 1011 is sponsored by the Engineers and Scientists of California Local 20 IFPTE and co-sponsored by the @californialabor.bsky.social and the Utility Workers Union of America Locals 132, 483, and 522.

On Dec. 16, the St. Mary’s Rams defeated Bakersfield Christian High School in the CIF Division 2-AA state high school title game.

It was St. Mary’s first state high school football championship.

It was also the first high school football title for any Stockton team.

Deeply proud today to join with Asm. Rhodesia Ransom to honor the Saint Mary’s High School football team of Stockton at the Capitol for winning the 2025 state championship.

SB 982 would enable the CA Atty. General to seek reimbursement from Big Oil for the climate disasters they’ve caused and to use those dollars to reduce home insurance rates and help pay for disaster relief.

Proud to stand today as a co-author of SB 982, which will help make home insurance rates affordable by holding fossil fuel companies accountable for causing climate-disasters.

Big thanks to TURN's Mark Toney and Adria Tinnin and Gracyna Mohabir of California Environmental Voters.

Honored to be named a "Corporate Accountability Champion" for my work to strengthen oversight of investor-owned utilities, like PG&E, and barring utilities from using ratepayer funds to fight against local efforts to create a municipal utility.

SB 947 would bar CA employers from relying solely on AI systems, known as automated decision-making systems (ADS), to fire or discipline workers. It would also require human oversight & independent verification when employers use ADS to assist in firing & disciplinary decisions.

NEW: Today I introduced SB 947, the No Robo Bosses Act of 2026 — landmark legislation that would require human oversight of artificial intelligence systems in the workplace to prevent abuses.
