What an incredible morning as I joined the San Gabriel Valley Public Affairs Network at their Luncheon Leadership Series hosted at the Tournament of Roses House! I had the honor of being the featured speaker, sharing legislative updates and describing what this partnership means for the community.

I also must express my deep appreciation to the group of survivors who bravely stood up and publicly shared their stories of trauma to protect students, including at this morning’s press conference in Pasadena. Their commitment to this vital legislation will prevent future abuse.

I am so grateful to the Governor for signing my SB 848, the Safe Learning Environments Act, into law. This law will protect children from sexual misconduct committed by school employees.

October is Filipino American History Month. California is home to our nation’s largest population of Filipino Americans with over 1.6 million residents, also making them the state's largest Asian community. This month we commemorate the many contributions and the history of Filipino Americans.

I got my start in public service on the LA community college board—I know that too many students struggle to afford school and rely on lifelines like Medicaid & SNAP.

💥 Most law enforcement are now required to publicly display their agency and name or badge number.

💥 Schools are now required to work with families and personnel to develop notification protocols when immigration authorities are present on campus.

💥 Most federal officers are now banned from concealing their faces.

The new laws I just enacted are a direct response to Trump's lawless immigration raids and arrests in California.

California is fighting to end this chaos by:

💥 Requiring schools and public hospitals to limit access and implement privacy protocols to protect against Trump’s immigration chaos.

Public safety hinges on the trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve — a bond that's been shredded by the reckless immigration quotas ordered by Donald Trump and Stephen Miller.

We will keep standing up for Californians against this administration's dangerous actions.

SB 98 and SB 805 have been signed into law and will immediately begin delivering protection and accountability in the face of cruel immigration enforcement raids! Thank you @governor.ca.gov for believing in this legislation.
