CA has one of the most accessible and secure voting systems in the country, and with the @governor.ca.gov signature on my bill AB 5, we continue to build upon this success.

I am proud to author this new law to set clear and achievable deadlines & provide all voters with more faith in our elections.

Today marks a historic leap forward for fairness & dignity on the job for hundreds of thousands of California workers who will now have the opportunity to join a union. I am honored to stand alongside rideshare drivers across the state, who never gave up in fighting for progress in the gig economy.

Every year for High Holidays, my synagogue puts out a book of reflections - poems or passages that congregants have submitted that they found meaningful. My custom has been to read them on Yom Kippur in the afternoon, and these three really spoke to me this year. G’mar Chatima Tovah.

Today, we recognize and honor the history, culture, and enduring contributions of California’s first people.

This day serves as a reminder of our shared responsibility to acknowledge the past, uplift Indigenous voices, and work toward a more equitable future.

Dozens of community orgs tabled to provide info about the services they provide, and we raffled off bikes, shoes, and beauty products. Grateful to everyone who made it such a huge success for the hundreds of constituents who came out!

Our 7th Annual Family Health & Wellness Fair was a huge success! We gave away thousands of pounds of food, thousands of diapers, hundreds of backpacks with school supplies, and providers administered flu & Covid shots and dental & vision screenings.

Today, our nation honors the memory of the nearly 3,000 lives lost and the countless heroes who responded with courage and compassion on September 11, 2001. Twenty-four years later, we will never forget.

Devastated by the murder of Charlie Kirk, and terrified for the future of our country. We must have political disagreement without political violence, or else this country will be torn apart.

This Labor Day, California honors the hardworking individuals, who are the foundation of our state.

At a time when workers across the country are under attack by the federal government, California continues to fight for the rights of all workers.

One of my favorite events every year - my annual Youth Town Hall. It’s so important to give youth a space of their own to participate in their democracy and ask questions both of me, and of each other. Grateful to everyone who came out to participate in this youth-led conversation!

This morning I had the chance to speak to Chris Jansing of MSNBC about California’s plan to give voters the power to push back on Trump and Republicans steamrolling of our democracy across the country.

This is an existential threat, and it’s time for California to fight back.

Today, CA Democrats introduced the Election Rigging Response Act – CA’s response to Donald Trump & Texas Republicans' attempt to rig our democracy & disenfranchise voters.

We didn’t choose this fight. We don’t want this fight. But with our democracy on the line, we cannot run away from this fight.

Amazing time in San Jose this morning! The promise of freedom and equality for all has never been fully realized in our nation, and every generation has had to step up — to organize, to mobilize, to speak out — to ensure that the United States lives up to its ideals. It’s our time. Happy 4th! 🇺🇸

The Republican war on immigrants continues. Your ability to be a citizen of the country you were born in should not be up to chance. It’s a right.

This decision by the court is in no way equitable nor just, & will have severe repercussions for the rule of law & many communities across the nation.

Huge turnout for this morning’s Menlo Park community coffee at CAFE Zoë. Thanks to everyone who came out to share your concerns about California being targeted by the Trump administration for constant political retribution and the steps Trump is taking towards authoritarianism.

At a time when so many communities of color are under attack, we are reminded that many essential freedoms are still out of reach for so many.

While today we celebrate #juneteenth and the end of slavery, our collective fight against oppression and injustice are far from over.
