Reading everyone’s posts about fav books got me thinking.

The first book that ever enthralled me through the night was “The Source” by James A Michener. I was 14 - I generally remember the plot, mostly I remember the thrill of being immersed in a different world until being surprised by the dawn.

Ever notice all the children’s graves before mid-20th century? Then cane the era science, vaccinating for measles, polio, tetanus, and other dread diseases.

A child just died of measles in Texas. The USA Secretary of Health says “that’s not unusual”. Actually it has been for almost a century.

Chicago went on a privatization binge awhile ago. They wanted to lower the expenses they said. City services and resources were sold/leased to private companies, who then raised prices, resulting in added costs to residents, and still not lowering taxes.

I’m still mad about the parking.

We can call our 12 nautical miles along the water anything we want (and be the laughing stock of the world) but judging by my inability to remember that The Sears Tower changed name a looong time ago I won’t be calling that body of water anything but The Gulf of Mexico.

Interesting how all those people who were so adamant about respecting the flag don’t give a rats ass about the flag code now.

Pedantic reminder: a pardon doesn’t erase a conviction and an unconditional discharge w/o punishment doesn’t erase 34 felony counts of falsifying business records

Thinking about banned books this evening. I didn’t know that this is one of the most often banned kids’ books in the last 30 years.

Like a little gargoyle, sitting high up on top of the armoire, watching and judging.

Works both ways.
So now that we know who we all are, can we all go back to minding our own business?

This is... actually a fairly reasonable takeaway from this year.
