This was a great film. Though, if I remember, the american remake was much crappier (unsurprisingly).

Visually speaking, why does the new IT show feel like Iโ€™m watching The Polar Express? Everything had this unnatural, over-produced into oblivion look that is very unpleasant.

(In my film taste) ALICE IN THE CITIES (1974) is one of the most aesthetically perfect films Iโ€™ve ever seen. As a new father, I found it particularly moving as well.

I havenโ€™t been able to read much lately, as I often have my hands full with my baby, but Iโ€™ve really been getting back into film. The Criterion Channel really getting me through the brutal 2am shifts.

The full wrap of This World of Vile Wonder. The cover art is an astronomer holding a candle, resting his hand on a globe, reading a manuscript. The art is a 1650s painting by Gerrit Dou called 'Astronomer by Candlelight.'

Brittan and I watched Vertigo last night. At once tense and serene with an emotive score. The sort of film I will think about for a long time. It was nice to see such an emphasis on The Presidio and San Fransisco in general, truly capturing the feeling of the city.

Had a great conversation with Caroline Shea, talking about my novel The Owl Men of Shanidar, medieval relics, writing a Robin Hood novel, & other topics. Check it out!

I donโ€™t post and have fun online like I used to. But, never before have I felt like my country were spiraling precipitously. An unfathomably stupid destruction.

Over two decades of listening to death metal and I still find 90s gems Iโ€™ve never heard before. (This one has classic Scott Burns production, too)

Iโ€™ve made a concerted effort to quit scrolling at night and get back to my regular reading volume. Iโ€™ve picked up THE BOSTONIANS which might be the best Henry James novel Iโ€™ve read. Every sentence is so enjoyable.

My crime novel, A Seance for Wicked King Death, is one rating shy of 100 on Goodreads. If youโ€™ve read it, help me get over the mark please! If you havenโ€™t, the ebook is 99 cents on Kindle.
