Skeletal editing: How close are we to true cut-and-paste chemistry? Reactions that alter organic scaffolds by a single atom are already proving useful, but time will tell if they’ll fundamentally change how molecules are made

This work was led by Ryan Zanolini and Mariam Basilaia and was inspired by one of my favorite 145 year old reactions (The Ciamician-Dennstedt Rearrangement). The work builds off of some seminal work from the Bonge-Hansen group (linked below).
