Yep. He’s right. No stores in Portland anymore. I can only eat the food that grows in my garden. And I sew all my own clothing. It’s rough here.

My brain is boggling at how scientists are still finding clusters of neurons that they didn't know about before. In the parabrachial nucleus, no less. In my book I described the PBN as the fusebox in the basement #neuroscience

I really hate this new trend. Having spent a part of my life learning how to fly and thinking of making it a profession, it frustrates the hell out of me to not be able to look out the window. I usually try to get a window seat to preempt anyone else from closing the shade.

No need to worry about batteries with sodium nitrate concentrators. They're putting them up all over the Gobi desert / Hexi corridor (along areas that aren't very scenic and already have a highway and other things like wind farms).

I have an entire lecture just on the history of sleep research for the undergrads. It helps orient them to the material that follows, but it still feels like it only scratches the surface and leads to one specific direction that I want the class to go in.

Things must still be pretty crazy at NIH, even after months of responding to the crisis that is the current Administration. I feel for those who work hard to make things happen there, hope they'll all make it through this time of chaos well.
