The defensiveness and then radio silence of the team when it comes to critique or requests around anything difficult (racism, transphobia, ableism) is irresponsible, harmful, and downright insulting.

They built a platform on people who 1) live on the internet 2) are members of the most marginalized groups 3) are the world's best trolls and 4) staunch advocates and activists who 5) are fucking brilliant at organizing and 6) don't let shit go when people's lives are at stake. I often say decentralization is not a feature most users are asking for.

The ability to own your own data is sweet, but it can't be at the cost of one's safety.

I’m seeing fewer and fewer posts from Black, Asian, Native, and/or Latiné people on here since all the nazi discourse. It makes me sad. This was a viable alternative but it looses that ability if it can’t make the site safe for those communities.
