β€œFaster Progress on the NoMa Tunnel: The pedestrian tunnel connecting the NoMa Metro to Union Market and Florida Avenue will now break ground three years earlier than planned”

what the baseline @cmcharlesallen.bsky.social refers to here? Is groundbreaking in β€˜26?

The team just admitted that the 2036 completion date for the housing was never serious; they don't think they can deliver any faster than 2040.

That's the date the Council budget office said is when the NON-stadium proposal would deliver by.

So now the stadium provides no acceleration.

For me the most frustrating thing is how clearly passionate about this the mayor is. Moving mountains to get this done while so many other issues get excuses and foot dragging.

Interesting: An amendment from Ward 7 Councilmember Wendell Felder and At-Large Councilmember Anita Bonds that would have delayed ranked-choice voting (by requiring a feasibility study first) has been withdrawn. So for now it looks like RCV will come to D.C. elections in 2026.

Basically the biggest projects in the plan are done by Amtrak and VPRA. Long bridge, L’Enfant platform and track, Douglass tunnel in Baltimore, West Baltimore station, Baltimore Penn renovation. Almost everything else is in the β€˜unconstrained’ (read never) phase.

I’m aware of that but they’re waiting until Virginia does the infra project for them and it doesn’t include electrification or high platforms which the Penn line mostly has already.

The biggest question is why has MARC never shown an interest in electrifying to Lefant and building a high platform there. Then you have a direct transfer to every metro line downtown and it’s only like a mile or two

Council Budget Office analysis on RFK Stadium deal

Council Budget Office analysis on RFK Stadium deal

The Council Budget Office's analysis of the RFK Stadium deal is out & it's even more expensive than first reported.

Total DC Taxpayer Subsidy: $4.4 billion‼️

We need a better deal. That’s a huge price to pay with not enough coming back to DC taxpayers. There's still time to get it right.

We don’t need this thing! No other offers are on the table - wonder why?

To avoid stadium trafficpocalypse, District officials need to demand these key requirements for RFK.

Definitely it’s possible. Notably Harris polled a lot better than Biden. Bit of you accept a 1% penalty it’s enough to flip HRC and Harris to a win
