Six months ago the DC streetcar was about to get dedicated lanes and then they decided better to scrap the whole thing

22.11.2025 18:54 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Kind of skeptical this is the reason. VA blaming DC for your commute interruptions. Conveniently not their fault.
21.11.2025 02:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Looking forward to level boarding platforms being a component of the next generation streetcar plan which we will never fund.
20.11.2025 18:51 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I appreciate a shared entry as a buffer for debris and water dripping. Sometimes a townhouses will have an entry way if itβs on the bigger side.
20.11.2025 14:14 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Can we get SMRT out of that?
20.11.2025 12:07 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0If only people in Barcelona could imagine
20.11.2025 03:56 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Not exactly infrastructure but can we get EMUs running between DC and Baltimore
20.11.2025 02:21 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Itβs amazing the excuses DOTs will invent to shut you up
20.11.2025 02:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Baca is dead on. Bowser sees any pedestrianization as a special hazard. Itβs not that hard!
19.11.2025 18:10 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I was thinking again about how medical lingo in English is typically rendered in Greco-Latin that the common people does not comprehend. Considering that every single person interacts with the medical system... why the gatekeeping terms?
19.11.2025 02:43 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0With modern metro-like trains and better organizational integration we could have a DC-Baltimore metro. The MARC Penn line infrastructure is good enough already. No new track or stations needed.
19.11.2025 14:01 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The American mind canβt comprehend
19.11.2025 13:16 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We should be getting metro rail level service out of the Penn line infrastructure buildthebronze.org
19.11.2025 04:09 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0What if what people want is a product of their social networks creating behaviors that seek perceived status
19.11.2025 01:55 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The tracks, wires, stains on the Penn line are all good.
Get metro-like trains that can do the run faster
Run metro-like frequency
Merge the fare system
Put it on the metro maps
Thatβs the point. We have good infra on the Penn line but weβre running terrible frequency, trip times much longer than they need to be, and you have to pay a big transfer penalty.
18.11.2025 03:23 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0They should build silver VIs based on the class 800 for SEPTA and MARC buildthebronze.org
17.11.2025 19:50 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Only one route available to get DC a new metro line in the next 10 years buildthebronze.org
17.11.2025 17:13 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This is a totally new dynamic and Randy Clark seems to be the driver
17.11.2025 15:49 β π 9 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Maryland needs to adopt this attitude of modernization to deliver better service.
A new Bronze line metro could use MARC Penn line infrastructure and deliver metro-level service between DC and Baltimore
buildthebronze.org
The funding ask is in with MD, VA, DC governments. They are selling this as much cheaper than previously planned blue loop.
17.11.2025 15:41 β π 13 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0We could have it buildthebronze.org
17.11.2025 13:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Fair point. I think thereβs also a heuristic that anyone talking about cutting waste must think the service itself is a waste. If you want more transit you typically ask for more transit money.
16.11.2025 03:57 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0And commuter rail is white collar, youβd expect higher trust.
16.11.2025 02:25 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0We need to make 18th street a pedestrian plaza so badly
12.11.2025 16:13 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0MARC should be jumping to get in on this for the Penn line
12.11.2025 13:34 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Sure but thereβs no wires on the Camden line where weβre talking about running them
10.11.2025 01:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0TEX Rail FLIRT
266β 4 segment
176 tons empty
LRV
285β 3 car
162 tons empty
Both seem to be 9.5β wide
Yeah probably just stop at Camden, Lexington market, and Penn
09.11.2025 16:04 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0How close do you get to this with a low floor DMU? FLIRT or something is FRA compliant, is it that different in some way from a low-floor LRV?
Just for the sake of argument assume youβre running the same Camden line service pattern but extending the runs.
