I'm mentioning this because, as part of this process, I purchased an ounce of starter from King Arthur baking. They not only offer the jar of starter for purchase, but excellent documentation on how to use it for the first time and keep it going.

Years ago I tried tackling sourdough starter, but it kept failing. I gave up and turned to no-knead bread instead, which is incredibly forgiving and turns out wonderful, homemade loaves.

Recently I returned to sourdough starter, this time determined to follow through.
